A. Semenyo

Antoine Serlom Semenyo, born on 7 January 2000 in London, England, is a dynamic forward for Premier League side AFC Bournemouth and a Ghana international. Rising through the ranks from Sunday League to professional football, Semenyo combines explosive pace, physicality, and versatility—capable of playing across the front line with flair, power, and a sharp eye for goal.

He developed his game at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College after being released by several clubs, before joining Bristol City’s academy in 2017. After loan spells at Bath City and Newport County to gain first-team experience, he made his senior debut for Bristol City in the 2017–18 Championship season. A further loan to Sunderland followed before he firmly established himself in Bristol’s first team.

At Bristol City between 2018 and 2023, Semenyo played 112 league matches and scored 16 goals, earning recognition as EFL Championship Player of the Month in January 2022 and Young Player of the Year for the club in 2021–22. In that breakout season, he recorded eight goals and 12 assists in all competitions, showcasing his creativity and goal threat.

In January 2023, Bournemouth signed Semenyo for a fee of about £10 million. He made 11 appearances and scored once in his first half season in the Premier League. The 2023–24 campaign saw him flourish—he featured in 33 league matches, scored eight goals, and added two assists, helping Bournemouth secure their top-flight status and earn multiple Player of the Month awards.

Internationally, Semenyo chose to represent Ghana and earned his first cap in June 2022 in a 3–0 win over Madagascar in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 AFCON. As of early 2025, he has made over 25 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring his first national team goal in late 2022 against Switzerland.

On the pitch, Semenyo is lauded for his speed, direct running, and aerial prowess. His ability to press defenders, time runs into the box, and deliver decisive efforts makes him a potent attacking weapon.
