Malo Gusto, born on 19 May 2003 in Décines-Charpieu near Lyon, France, is a dynamic right-back known for his explosive pace, technical ability, and attacking flair. Coming through Olympique Lyonnais’s renowned academy, he developed a reputation for energetic defensive work and effective overlapping runs, distinguishing himself as one of the brightest young full-backs in Europe.

Gusto made his senior debut for Lyon in January 2021 and swiftly became a regular in Ligue 1, making over 30 league appearances in the 2021–22 campaign and contributing with several assists. His performances drew praise for his defensive tenacity and adventurous spirit on the wing, and he soon attracted interest from top clubs abroad.

In January 2023, Chelsea secured Gusto's signature for around €35 million, agreeing to loan him back to Lyon until the summer. He officially joined Chelsea ahead of the 2023–24 season, signing a long-term contract through 2030. Quickly integrated into first-team duties, he impressed on his home debut, registering two assists and showcasing his readiness for Premier League football.

During his first full season at Stamford Bridge, Gusto featured in over 30 league games, scoring once and assisting six times. He played a significant role in Chelsea’s run to the Europa Conference League title, even though a challenging half in the final saw him substituted at halftime—an experience he used to build resilience and learn. In December, he earned a winner’s medal in the FIFA Club World Cup, further highlighting his rapid development.

On the international stage, Gusto has represented France at Under-21 level and earned full France call-ups. His speed, passing accuracy, and tactical awareness earned him praise from both Chelsea supporters and pundits, and he remains on the radar for future inclusion in senior tournaments.

Off the pitch, Gusto is grounded and ambitious. Growing up playing athletics and rugby, he appreciates teamwork and discipline—values he carries into every match. He has spoken candidly about embracing competition and learning from teammates like Reece James, while remaining humble and focused on continuous improvement.

At just 22, Malo Gusto has already achieved substantial milestones: becoming a first-team starter in two major European leagues, winning international club silverware, and breaking into France’s Under-21 setup. With his blend of youthful exuberance, technical skill, and mental strength, he is widely viewed as one of the Premier League’s most promising young full-backs and a player to watch in the coming years.
